This project is located on a barrier island, Port Bolivar, Galveston Texas. This studio focused on designing both a climate observatory and a multi-purpose Ferry Terminal and Market hall that utilizes a modular skin structure system to engage with questions of shading, ventilation, and materiality. Concept Inspiration is derived from the oyster restoration efforts of the Galveston Bay Foundation which led to the exploration of key ideas of Porocity, density, & filtration in order to allow for framing moments of focused site analysis and experiences.
